Project JellyLift

Helping students reach opportunities that might otherwise feel out of reach.

Project JellyLift is how we turn “we wish we could” into “we are doing it.” This program supports fundraising, sponsorships, and resource assistance so teams and STEM programs can access tools, materials, training, and meaningful learning experiences. It helps remove financial barriers so passion can lead.

Nolan Note: If you can measure it, you can plan it. Track needs by category, tools, parts, and resources, then build a smarter support plan.
Why It Matters

Kids should not miss out on hands on STEM because of a price tag. A team can have the talent, the motivation, and the heart, but still get stuck because they do not have the tools, replacement parts, or support needed to keep going. Costs add up fast, and when resources are limited, opportunities shrink.

Project JellyLift exists to keep doors open. It helps teams get what they need to build, test, learn, and grow, and it helps communities invest in students who are ready to work hard and do something amazing.

Impact includes:

  • Tools, parts, and materials that keep teams building and improving

  • Support for fundraising and sponsorships that sustain programs

  • More students able to access meaningful STEM opportunities

How It Started

Project JellyLift grew out of a very real moment, realizing how quickly costs add up for teams and families, and how often access depends on funding, not potential. PB & Jellyfish experienced the whirlwind of fundraising it takes to reach big opportunities, and it made one thing clear, no student should be excluded from learning by doing because of what they can or cannot afford.

So we built a program designed to lift teams over the barriers that slow them down, whether that barrier is supplies, equipment, or the lack of a fundraising plan. We help teams organize needs, communicate their story, and connect with support that turns hope into action.

What We Do

Advice, Tips and Tricks From Around the World

This section is where teams share the small things that make a big difference, what worked, what surprised them, and what they wish they knew sooner. Tips are specific actions you can try right away. Tricks are small hacks that save time or reduce mistakes. Advice is the bigger direction that helps teams make good decisions over the whole season.

From Our Junior Board

Nolan, tip: Make a budget in categories, tools, parts, supplies, registration, travel. If you can measure it, you can plan it.

Nolan, trick: Track every fundraiser like data. What you did, what it cost, what you earned, and what you would change. Next time gets smarter.

Nolan, advice: Do not wait until you are desperate. Start small early, then build momentum over time.

Brooklynn, tip: Keep a sponsor list and a thank you list. Following up matters just as much as asking.

Brooklynn, trick: Take one good photo at every fundraiser and every event. People support what they can see, and pictures tell the story fast.

Brooklynn, advice: Asking is hard, but you are not begging. You are inviting someone to be part of something good.

Julian, tip: When you ask a business, lead with the mission in one sentence, then make the ask simple. People say yes faster when they understand what they are joining.

Julian, advice: Confidence sells. Do not apologize for asking. You are giving someone a chance to support students doing something amazing.

From Around the World

Experienced SeaPerch teams, tip: Ask for specific help. “Could you sponsor our registration fee,” gets more yeses than “we need money.”

Community partners, trick: Give donors a simple impact menu. Small amounts feel doable when people know exactly what they support.

Mentors who help teams fundraise, advice: Always thank quickly and publicly when appropriate. Gratitude builds long term support and repeat sponsors.
